COLDWATER (WTVB) -- The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities is pitching the idea of becoming a Google fiber test site. So are cities such as Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids and Holland. Yesterday, Governor Granholm went to California to personally meet with Google officials to request that a test site be located somewhere in Michigan.
Topeka Kansas has renamed itself “Google”, Kansas for a month. The mayor of Duluth has humorously proposed that all first born male children be renamed Google. Granholm says no state can match the exploding technology investments in Michigan. Google wants to use fiber optics to wire up to 50-thousand homes and businesses to a 1-gigabit per second internet service.
