WASHINGTON D.C. (WKZO) -- If the U.S. Senate doesn’t act today, tens of thousands of Michiganders will watch their unemployment insurance expire in the next two months. Governor Granholm is urging the senate to act now. The U.S. House has already approved an extension through June, and yesterday afternoon they approved another month long extension.
Battle Creek Democrat Mark Schauer also proposed an extension through September. Some say its unlikely the Senate will act by Sunday, the lead time that state’s need to gear up for benefits extensions.
